Body Intel Offers Physical Therapy To Help…

Back Pain

Several factors can contribute to back pain, including muscle and joint imbalance, lifestyle/activities/job, and trauma. We will listen to your history of back pain and then perform a thorough evaluation of your spinal mechanics, overall body strength and stability, and neurological mobility. We will help you understand the factors that are contributing to your back pain and help you to move forward and heal. The treatment may include pilates stabilization, manual (hands-on) therapy, dry-needling, or cupping, to name a few.

Orthopedic Injury

Rehabilitate surgical and non-surgical injuries, such as joint replacements, overuse injuries, tendonitis, and sprains, to name a few. You will receive one-on-one attention from a physical therapist during the entire length of your session. We utilize modalities to decrease pain and inflammation, manual therapy to restore normal joint and muscle flexibility, and strengthening to help you return to your active lifestyle. We often use our pilates equipment as a fun and safe way to address all of these goals.

Golfers

Work with a physical therapist to improve your flexibility of muscles and joints that are commonly involved in causing pain and limitations in golfers. We will perform stretching and mobilization techniques to restore full motion and then teach you exercise to maintain your flexibility. We will also help you to stabilize and strengthen your core for a better swing without pain!

Dry Needling

Intramuscular dry needling is a procedure in which an acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin and directed at a trigger point, a tight band in the muscle tissue causing dysfunction and pain. When the needle is inserted into the trigger point, the high levels of pain chemicals that are present become normalized, resulting in decreased muscle tension and the restoration of proper body function.

Abdominal/Hernia Repair

Pre-surgical training to prepare your body for abdominal surgery. Post-surgical rehab to recover faster and regain your strength safely. This has been shown to prevent reoccurrences of hernias.

Pre/Post Natal

Many women encounter upper/lower back and neck pain during or after pregnancy due to the new demands on their bodies, such as releasing relaxin (a hormone that causes laxity in ligaments) carrying the extra weight of the of baby, and breastfeeding. We will evaluate you for common issues that are often overlooked and can lead to problems in the future, such as rectus abdominis diastases, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and mis-firing of muscles that were cut in c-sections. We will help you to be pain-free and enjoy the entire experience of pregnancy and being a new mom!

Maintenance

We understand that our bodies are much like automobiles in the way that we need proper maintenance to operate at full capacity without breaking down. Maintenance may include any modalities of PT, such as joint mobilization, dry needling, and stretching and can performed weekly or annually, depending on your needs and lifestyle demands.

Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain, defined as lasting 6 months or longer, often causes over-sensitization of the pain pathways in the spinal cord and brain, referred to as central nervous system sensitivity. This system must be addressed with techniques such as neural mobilization, joint mobilization, and movement retraining.

Vacuum/Cupping Therapy:

This is an ancient Chinese form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin. This therapy mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing, reducing pain and inflammation throughout the body.
